My name is Sherry Manning and I am the Founder and Executive Director of Friends of ENCA Farm. Friends of ENCA Farm is a Denver, Colorado based 501c3 non-profit organization. We serve as the educational and advocacy entity supporting the work of ENCA Eco-Tourism and Organic Farm in the Philippines. The rising threats of global climate change, extractive economies, and big developers continue to threaten environmental sustainability, food security, and cultural heritage throughout the Philippines. Our education and advocacy programs ensure that Filipino farmers have access to organic seeds, local youth participate in environmental education camps, and Ibaloi cultural practices are documented, taught, and preserved throughout the Philippines and world. Through community-based tourism programs ENCA visitors learn organic farming techniques and conduct meaningful service projects.
I have always kept a personal travel blog on my trips to the Philippines over the last nearly 10 years, and this is the new face of these writings. Please follow along and join me on this incredible journey to improve food security and the environment in the dense and beautiful mountains of the Northern Philippines. Here, I will share about the work we are engaged in, the people we are fortunate enough to work with and call family, and also reflect about the many lessons learned working and living with these amazing communities and people of the Cordillera Mountains!
